Thomson Nature Park
Getting bored during the lockdown, I decided to explore the local sights of Singapore. The Thomson Nature Park provided a perfect getaway with its beautiful scenic trails. I enjoyed the sound of nature. Seeing the remains of the village in Singapore was eye-opening for me.
History
The park was opened in October 2019. The park houses the ruins of former Hainan Village and the ruins are still visible. The Village was founded in 1930 by the Hainanese immigrants. The community flourished and by the 1960s there were 100 residents living there. You get to know more about how the residents through the boards located at various parts of the trail. Trek
Difficulty: Easy
The place has different trails ranging from 1.5 Km to 0.15 Km. All of them are connected very nicely so you can cover each of them without getting lost. The entire trail is almost flat without any slopes and quite easy. It will take around 1.5 hours to complete the entire journey. You will feel peaceful listening to the sounds of nature.

- Streams & Ferns Trail (1.4KM)
- Rambutan Trail (0.4KM)
- Macaque Trail (0.35KM)
- Langur Trail (0.15KM)
Essentials to carry
Make sure you carry your own water bottle. The entrance has a place to fill your bottle and there are no vending machines. Avoid carrying any plastic bag with food. This might entice the local monkeys.

The place is open from 7 am to 7 pm.
Getting there:
Thomson Nature Park is accessible by different buses like 167, 980, 860, and 138. The nearest bus stop is Aft Tagore Dr. and Bef Tagore Dr. From there it’s a minute walk to the park.
